Cardboard Regatta

The second annual LLYC "Cardboard Boat Regatta" is scheduled for July 12th! We plan to have two divisions: kids under 16 and an adult division. Teams will consist of up to 4 people, and teammates must be from the same age group.

The only materials allowed in the construction of your boat are cardboard (corrugated or standard), duct tape, adhesive, and water-based paint. Corrugated cardboard may be used, but it cannot have any wax, resin, or vinyl coating. Decorations can be made of any material but should not help the boat stay afloat or keep its structure together. The boat can be painted, but not with "waterproof" paint.

The race will take place on Middle Lake in front of Lauderdale Landing, and the course will be an out-and-back from the gas dock out to a designated buoy line, and the first boat back will win. We will have safety…
